The Dutra Group Awarded 700,000 yd3 Tampa Harbor Dredging and Egmont Key Renourishment Project

Posted on July 27, 2026

The Dutra Group is proud to announce the award of the Tampa Harbor Maintenance Dredging and Egmont Key Renourishment Project.

The project will maintain critical navigation channels for the Port Tampa Bay by dredging 700,000 cubic yards of sand, while beneficial reusing material to combat shoreline erosion on Egmont Key.

Dutra’s Hopper Dredge Stuyvesant will mobilize to Tampa this fall. It was most recently in Tampa Harbor in 2025, where it dredged the middle section of the channel, beneficially reusing that material to create a new bird island habitat near Sunken Island.

We appreciate the opportunity to partner with the USACE Jacksonville District, Port Tampa Bay, and the many other stakeholders throughout the region who support maritime infrastructure and critical habitats in Tampa Bay.

Projects like this demonstrate how dredging supports both maritime commerce and environmental stewardship—maintaining critical navigation channels while strengthening coastal resources. We are proud of the mariners, operators, mechanics, engineers, and project teams whose dedication makes work like this possible and helps strengthen our nation’s maritime infrastructure.
