The Surf City Town Council has approved an amendment to use $280,000 for emergency renourishment of the sand along its coast.
The town says a storm at the end of February caused extensive erosion, raising safety concerns.
The town manager says this is a very small volume of sand compared to Army Corps projects and that the project will be completed by May 1.
