Surf City approves $280,000 for emergency nourishment repairs due to February storm

The Surf City Town Council is considering a budget amendment to use $280,000 to help replenishing the sand along its coast.

The Surf City Town Council has approved an amendment to use $280,000 for emergency renourishment of the sand along its coast.

The town says a storm at the end of February caused extensive erosion, raising safety concerns.

The town manager says this is a very small volume of sand compared to Army Corps projects and that the project will be completed by May 1.
