Royal IHC has Keel laying ceremony in Kinderdijk for Kenmare mining dredger

Posted on September 2, 2024

Last Friday was a proud moment as we held the keel laying ceremony for the electric mining dredger we’re building for Kenmare Resources Plc.

The Director IHC Mining Hans Greve explained more on the two custom vessels, concurrently built at our yard in Kinderdijk. Boasting 6,800 kVA of total power and 1,350 kW of cutter power, they will play a crucial role in the client’s newly extended mine site of the Moma Mine in Mozambique.

Following this, our CEO Derk te Bokkel gave the sign to place the first section on the slipway.

This milestone marks the official start of the construction of these electric cutter suction dredgers. It is a true reflection of our commitment and hard work. We celebrated this special occasion with all our staff in the hall in a temporary PPE-free zone.
