Royal Dirkzwager launches Ship2Port

Port of Rotterdam

Posted on July 8, 2024

Royal Dirkzwager is launching a new application, Ship2Port, a new version of the company’s Ship2Report current application. Ship2Port operates as a personal assistant concerning all port call planning activities, already having hundreds of users in the Dutch ports.

Most port call planning is done through AIS data. Ship2Port offers increased data quality due to its integration with Port Management Systems. Through this integration, the most accurate port call planning data are accessed, which allows users to streamline their operations to the exact arrival time and arrival location of the ship based on the actual planning of the agent, pilots and port authority.

The application predicts and provides the planned arrival time at the exact berth seven days before arrival, with an average deviation of eight hours. This allows customers to plan the correct shift, or part of the day, a week before the arrival of the ship.

Another important feature of the Ship2Port application is the ISPS module. The ISPS code (International Ship and Port Facility Security) is a set of measures to enhance the security of ships and port facilities implemented by the IMO on 1 July 2004.

After 20 years, most of the ISPS code’s measures are still managed via e-mail and Excel. Sharing personal information via e-mail with agents and terminals is not secure or reliable. This might lead to unwanted visitors on ships or port facilities.

A new Ship2Port ISPS module facilitates creating and managing ISPS announcements safely and efficiently. Users can securely upload their personal information and reuse this to make announcements.

Furthermore, the system validates and certifies information to assure the person who is announced, is indeed the person who will visit the ship or the terminal.

Ship2Port facilitates over 80% of all ISPS announcements within the Port of Rotterdam and most of the ISPS announcements in the Port of Amsterdam.
