Rockland Recreation Area closed due to damage from tornado

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that the Rockland Recreation Area at Old Hickory Lake is closed until further notice due to damage sustained from the tornado on Saturday night.

“Rockland Recreation Area sustained substantial damage from the tornado on Saturday, December 9,” said Dylon Anderson, natural resource manager, Old Hickory Lake, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. “The entire area will be closed to the public until further notice.”

There was damage to other Corps of Engineer’s facilities in the area. Power and phones are out at the Old Hickory Lake Visitor Center, but hydropower operations and navigation lock operations are unaffected. A temporary phone number for the public is (615) 475-7161. Please leave a message.
