River Bend Public Works completes dredging project

Posted on January 7, 2021

Public Works finished the right-of-way mowing that the department is responsible for. There are several areas around Town that is mowed that is not part of the mowing contract. The dredging project in the section of Anchor Way Canal has been completed. Public Works removed the old day markers in this canal, and new ones are being made. The department hoped to have these installed at the latest by the first week in December. These day markers mark the center of the channel, and are necessary for navigating Anchor Way Canal.

Water Resources repaired one steel walkway brace under the walking platform on the Large Wastewater Treatment Plant. This was completed in house with their welder, and they would like to thank Doug Becker for a job well done. They also have been painting as time and weather allows down at the Wastewater Treatment Facility. Routinely they paint all the plants to protect its steel structure from the corrosive environment. Piedmont Natural Gas “DUKE” has created a program to camera sewer systems in areas where gas lines were installed. River Bend is taking part in the program at no cost. Camera crews will be around Town checking sewer mains, and service laterals to make sure there is no cross bores. The process is expected to take months to complete, and began in December.
