The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has announced the publication of the Draft Environmental Impact Study (DEIS) for the Pearl River Basin Mississippi Federal Flood Risk Management Project. This significant step in the project’s development marks the beginning of a 45-day public review period, concluding on Monday, July 22, 2024.

During the review period, the USACE will hold public meetings to gather feedback and comments on the DEIS. A virtual meeting is tentatively scheduled for the week of June 24, 2024. Specific details regarding this meeting will be posted on the project page once available.
In-person public meetings are scheduled as follows:

Public comments on the DEIS may be submitted in the following ways:
• Verbally or via a written comment card at an in-person session
• Via email to pearlriverfrm@usace.army.mil
• Via mail addressed to: Mr. Eric Williams; Chief, Environmental Branch U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Regional Planning and Environmental Division South, CEMVN-PDS, 7400 Leake Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana 70118
All significant comments received will be compiled by the USACE and included in a Public Involvement Report. Any necessary changes resulting from the feedback and comments will be incorporated into the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
The final EIS and its appendices will be published in the Federal Register later in 2024. Accompanying these final documents will be a Record of Decision from the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works (ASA(CW)).
