Pres. inaugurates the completion of infrastructure projects in B. Dhonfanu

President Solih has inaugurated the newly completed infrastructure development projects in Dhonfanu Island of Baa Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the newly completed infrastructure development projects in Dhonfanu Island of Baa Atoll.

The President marked the completion of these projects during his tour of Baa Atoll, on Tuesday. President Solih is inaugurating the completion of various development projects initiated by the administration in outlying atolls, during his tours of the atolls.

During his visit to Dhonfanu Island, the President marked the completion of the island’s coastal protection project, the island’s new harbor, powerhouse and the Fenaka Office.

The harbor and coastal protection projects of Dhonfanu Island was completed by MT Højgaard Pvt. Ltd. The project included the development of a 536-metre revetment, while the harbor project involved dredging to increase its depth, constructing a quay wall and outer seawall, installing new ramps and port lights, and paving to improve accessibility and functionality.

The new powerhouse of Dhonfanu has power generation capacity of 650 kilowatts.

The powerhouse and Fenaka Office are state-of-the-art facilities that were strategically located away from the residential area to minimise disruption to the island’s inhabitants.

These infrastructure development projects represents significant investments in the development and well-being of the local communities. As such, these infrastructure developments would improve the quality of life for residents and support economic growth in the region.
