PPA bids out P209-M Buruanga port dredging project

The Philippine Ports Authority is undertaking the dredging of Alegria Port in Barangay Alegria, Buruanga, Aklan before the construction of a dedicated port for cruise tourism.

KALIBO, Aklan – The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is bidding out the multi-million dredging port project in Buruanga, Aklan.

The project cost is P209.16 million, according to the Invitation to Bid for qualified contractors.

The plan is to complete the Alegria port dredging project in 470 calendar days from the receipt of the Notice to Proceed by the successful bidder.

A contractor should have a Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) Registration for Medium B Port, Harbor and Offshore Engineering.

Bids for Alegria port dredging project must be received by Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) secretariat on or before June 13, 2024 at 1 p.m.

Bids opening is also scheduled on same date at 3 p.m. at the 7th Floor, PPA Building, A. Bonifacio Drive, South Harbor, Port Area, Manila.

The state-run agency undertakes the dredging of Alegria Port in Barangay Alegria before the construction of a dedicated port for cruise tourism.

The project allows the expansion of Alegria port and the docking of larger ships which would bring more economic opportunities to Aklan and the neighboring provinces.

The seaport infrastructure project in Buruanga worth P748 million is seen to accommodate cruise ships and provide safer and more convenient transport experience for tourists.
