The Klaipėda Port Authority has started design work on a new marina for yachts and leisure boats.
The marina will be located next to the new Cruise Terminal, which is currently under construction.
It is expected to provide approximately 85 berths for leisure vessels between 10 and 20 metres long.
Hidrosfera wins marina design contract
The Klaipėda Port Authority awarded the design contract to Hidrosfera following an international tender launched earlier in 2026.
The contract is worth €145,000, excluding VAT.
Hidrosfera will design the marina and its utility infrastructure. The company will also obtain the required construction permit and prepare the detailed technical design.
In addition, Hidrosfera will coordinate the technical plans and provide design supervision during construction.
Marina to provide electricity and fresh water
The marina will be developed in the harbour basin next to the Cruise Terminal.
Its central location will provide access for local boat owners and visiting yachts.
The new facility will help reduce the shortage of leisure boat berths in Klaipėda and the surrounding region.
The marina will also provide vessels with access to electricity and fresh water.
“As a maritime country, Lithuania needs to invest in infrastructure for leisure boating, both for local boat owners and visitors from abroad,” said Algis Latakas, CEO of the Klaipėda Port Authority.
“By developing the new Cruise Terminal, we also want to help address the shortage of berths for leisure boats,” he added.
Cruise Terminal scheduled for completion in 2027
The new Cruise Terminal will include infrastructure for ships and public waterfront areas.
The development will feature pedestrian and cycling paths, as well as an amphitheatre facing the water.
The amphitheatre will provide space for events and other public activities.
The Cruise Terminal complex is expected to be completed in 2027.
