Pigeon Lake Won’t be Dredged

Posted on November 19, 2018

Pigeon Lake will not be dredged, after all.

A month after residents in the Pigeon Lake Protection & Rehabilitation District voted to dredge the lake during a water draw-down for dam repairs, that vote has been nullified because the district did not give proper notice of the meeting, according to Keith Steckbauer, the attorney for the district.

“For clarity purposes, all actions taken at the October 16th, meeting are not effective and not being considered in any fashion,” he told Fox 11.

The board has rescheduled its annual meeting, but “It is not anticipated or suggested that the dredging project will be proposed at that meeting,” according to Steckbauer. “It is unrealistic that the process could be completed prior to the dam project being completed.”

At the Oct. 16 meeting, an 85-to-71 approved the multi-million project. But even at that meetings, concerns were raised if proper notice was given. The district hired Steckbauer earlier this month to review the timeline.
