RH Marine Group announced Wednesday that Paul Smulders has been appointed CEO of Radio Holland, effective May 15.
Smulders started his career ashore at Radio Holland in 1989 as sales engineer, deepsea, after a career at sea as nautical officer. From 1993 on he fulfilled various positions, such as sales manager for the Radio Holland Hong Kong sales activities in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and in the Netherlands as Area Sales Manager and Managing Director of Radio Holland Netherlands. Paul played a pivotal role in growing a successful organization, renowned as a specialist in NavCom and Maintenance in the global maritime industry.
In 2012 he left Radio Holland to become CEO at Netwave Systems B.V., manufacturer of maritime data collection systems. At Netwave, Paul gained experience on the manufacturing side, providing him in-depth insight in all matters related to manufacturing of navigational products. As a result, Paul built up know-how and experience in managing manufacturing processes, including sales and service aspects.
“With his knowledge of the global maritime market and all its stakeholders, knowing our company well, and with his experience of leading a manufacturing company, we are happy Paul decided to return to our company,” said René ten Brinke, CEO of RH Marine Group (formerly Imtech), Radio Holland’s parent company. “[His] focus will be on strengthening the global, market-leading position of Radio Holland and our strategy and mission to support our customers run smarter, more profitable businesses with less downtime and lower operational expenditure.”
