Pass-a-Grille Beach Nourishment

Posted on April 24, 2024

Project Overview

Pinellas County is planning a full nourishment of Pass-a-Grille beach that would be performed in two phases. During the first phase, between 10,000 and 15,000 cubic yards of sand from the Grand Canal project will be placed between 9th Avenue and 4th Avenue. For Phase 2, the County is seeking a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to place an additional 138,000 cubic yards of sand from Pass-a-Grille Inlet between 22nd Avenue and 1st Avenue to fully nourish and restore Pass-a-Grille Beach.

Project Impacts

During Phase 1, work will occur between about 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. If Phase 2 is approved, work will shift to 24-hour operations, seven days a week. Portions of the beach within the construction zone will be closed at times, and pier access will be closed for the duration of the project. Paradise Grill and portions of the beach not within the construction zone will remain open.
