Parkwind has produced first power from its 257MW Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The Belgian developer said the first Vestas V174-9.5MW turbine was energised and connected to the German grid on 12 January.
Project director Wim Verrept said first power is a “huge milestone”.
“First power is the culmination of a long string of achievements each demonstrating the skills and efforts of a group of exceptionally talented people that I have the honour to work with,” he said.
“We are now delivering the first green energy produced by the Arcadis Ost wind farm to the German grid at the connection point in Lubmin contributing to a carbon free German society.”
Turbine installation at the project remains ongoing and full commissioning is expected later this year.
Arcadis Ost 1 is Parkwind’s first wind farm outside its home market of Belgium.
