Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 Receives 2,300-Tonne Monopiles for World’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm

Posted on August 10, 2026

Monopiles installed at Hornsea 3 are already massive – averaging 1,670 tonnes and 90 metres long. 🤯 But the latest arrivals are even bigger than that, weighing more than 2,300 tonnes and measuring 105 metres in length.

We need these bigger monopiles in areas of deeper water, or where our analysis of the seabed shows it’s necessary. These larger structures make up just 24 of our total of 197, produced by a range of our suppliers.

Check out the images where you can see staff at our partner Haizea Wind Group looking like ants next to them! Another great feat of engineering, made possible through the precision, collaboration, and shared expertise involved in building Hornsea 3 – the world’s single largest offshore wind farm.
