Up to $240 million in funds for habitat restoration and coastal resilience is now available to coastal communities and tribes through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act.
NOAA Fisheries announced on Monday that proposals with a federal funding request from $1 million to $25 million will be accepted through the application period ending on Nov. 17.
The funding goal is to aide in the recovery of threatened and endangered species, and to help protect coastal communities and ecosystems from the impact of climate change.
Funds may also be used to reconnect rivers to their historic floodplains, outplant corals to rebuild reefs, build living shorelines that protect coasts from erosion and sea level rise, and more.
Pre-recorded webinars are to be posted online and interested applicants may attend a public webinar on Aug. 29 at 10 a.m., Sept. 6 at 10 a.m., or Sept. 13 at noon.
