Damen Marine Services (DMS) has welcomed DMS Snipe to its fleet after its construction by Albwardy Damen, in Hamriya, in the United Arab Emirates. It is available for charter, both fully crewed and bareboat.
This was built to a new class of Damen Multi Cat with an engineroom ready to be upgraded to meet IMO Tier III compliance in emissions reduction.
This 33-m workboat, with a beam of around 13 m, was the first to be built to Damen’s Multi Cat 3313 SD design, with a draught of less than 2 m. DMS Snipe is equipped with a wide range of equipment including two deck cranes, an anchor winch and towing pins.
Damen said it is ideal for all types of operation in shallow waters including construction, anchor handling and dredging support.
“With their shallow draught capability, vessels like the Multi Cat 3313 SD can also avoid damaging marine ecosystems when operating close to reefs or the shore,” said Damen.
DMS Snipe joined DMS’s fleet in the Middle East Gulf and is being mobilised for its charter, supporting a major dredging operation in Q2 and Q3 2023.
DMS’ fleet supports dredging and marine construction companies and oil and gas producers such as Saudi Aramco, which uses its vessels for anchor handling and supplying fresh water and fuel to offshore installations.
Albwardy Damen shipyard provides facilities for DMS to resupply and maintain its vessels.
DMS Snipe is prepared for an upgrade to IMO Tier III by having the necessary pipework, foundations and other preliminary equipment in position. If it is updated to this emissions standard, which is not yet a requirement in the Middle East Gulf, Damen’s marine NOx reduction system, including urea tanks and selective catalytic reduction units, will be installed.
Damen Multi Cats of this size have bollard pulls of around 30-35 tonnes.
