Muddy River FRM project progresses to Leverett Pond; work will cause temporary road closures April 13-14

CONCORD, Mass. (April 7, 2021) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District announced today upcoming temporary road closures on Netherlands Road as dredging activities continue to progress on Phase 2 of the $36.5 million Muddy River Flood Risk Management project in Boston and Brookline, Massachusetts.

Temporary road closures will take place April 13-14, 2021, on Netherlands Road as equipment and materials are moved to project Work Area #1 from Work Area #4, in the vicinity of Riverway and Netherlands Road (near the Brookline DPW building). Appropriate signage will be placed on the outbound side at Riverway and on Netherlands Road. The temporary road closures will take place between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day.

Dredging is complete at Work Area #4 and will progress to Work Area #1 (Leverett Pond). Dredging will begin at Leverett Pond later this month once the site access and mobilization is complete. Site access and mobilization to Leverett Pond will begin April 12, 2021.

State Police and Brookline Police details will be on-site to safely guide traffic around the vehicles off-loading the equipment and materials. Access to the Brookline DPW building will be maintained during these road closures.
