In the world’s most remote and demanding waters, capability defines what’s possible. The VARD 5 152 is built for that mission.
A flexible multi‑role platform, it combines the power of a Polar Class 2 (PC 2) icebreaker with a large aft modular mission deck and a dual‑hangar helicopter facility. This enables persistent operations and sustained presence in the most challenging environments.
With more than 100 days of logistical endurance, a range of 35,000 nautical miles, and the ability to continuously break up to 3 metres of level ice, the VARD 5 152 supports icebreaking, remote resupply, multi‑disciplinary science, and sovereignty operations in severely ice‑infested waters.
From surveillance and acting as a mobile sensor node, to providing sealift, vessel and submarine tendering, fuel resupply, and long‑duration support for multi‑agency operations, the VARD 5 152 delivers the flexibility and capability required for the most demanding polar and high‑latitude missions.
