Manson’s News Update for the Month of June

Posted on July 1, 2026

Manson was the low bidder on the Mississippi River, Baton Rouge to Gulf, Southwest Pass Hopper Dredge #1-2026 project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), New Orleans District.

This $26.2 million project will involve dredging the Mississippi River’s Southwest Pass, with potential work in additional areas to be determined by the USACE New Orleans District.

A critical project for the USACE New Orleans District, Southwest Pass is one of the Mississippi River’s most important shipping channels, serving as a primary route for deep-draft vessels moving national and international cargo through the Port of New Orleans and the Port of South Louisiana.

Project Update | Piledriving Begins at Terminal 1 in Anchorage, AK

Manson’s Terminal 1 Replacement project team has begun pile-driving operations at the Port of Anchorage in Alaska. Using the derrick barge WOTAN, crews are installing 6 ft. diameter, 150 ft. piles as part of the ongoing installation work.

The project is part of the Municipality of Anchorage’s (MOA) 10-year Port of Alaska Modernization Program. It includes demolishing and constructing a new wharf, expanding the shoreline, and dredging nearby channels. Scheduled for completion in 2029, this five-year effort replaces aging infrastructure to improve safety, efficiency, and resiliency in the region’s harsh marine environment.

Manson Renourishes Fort Pierce Beach

Manson recently completed the federally-funded Fort Pierce Beach renourishment project along Florida’s Central Coast, restoring one mile of shoreline just in time for summer.

Commissioned by the USACE Jacksonville District and the St. Lucie County Erosion District, the project placed quality-grade sand from an offshore borrow site to rebuild beach access, support local tourism, and strengthen natural storm protection for nearby residences. Crews coordinated work onshore and offshore, using the hopper dredge BAYPORT, MANSON 76 mooring barge, pipeline, and screening equipment to safely and efficiently deliver sand to the shoreline while maintaining public access near the project site.

Manson’s Jacksonville Office Volunteers to Build Affordable Housing

In June, several members from Manson’s Jacksonville office and executive leadership gathered in Jacksonville, FL, for the 2026 Dredge Strategy Meeting to align key initiatives and goals for the year ahead.

As part of Manson’s Employee and Community Engagement initiative, participants also volunteered with Beaches Habitat for Humanity, supporting safe, affordable housing through hands-on construction work. Activities throughout the day included framing, installing structural sheathing on the exterior, applying moisture barriers as underlayment for siding, laying roof tiles, and completing interior work such as bathroom tiling.

The effort highlighted Manson’s commitment to teamwork, community engagement, and making a positive impact on where we live and work.
