Konrad Mech, Sales Director for Coasts, Ports and Inland Waterways will be presenting “Marine Civil Engineering Solutions for Infrastructure Inspection” at the Association of Pacific Port’s Annual Conference – September 25 to 28, 2022 in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands.
According to Mech, “Pacific ports face particularly challenging circumstances that threaten and impact their port infrastructure. They are on the Ring of Fire; they must deal with rising sea levels, and they have to engineer for more frequent and increasingly violent storm events.” Mech will cover many of the new technologies currently being considered for inclusion in the American Society of Civil Engineering’s Manual of Practice 130 for Waterfront Facilities Inspection. Mech concluded,“Technology has advanced very rapidly in the past decade, providing port facilities engineers and contractors several new tools. Ports must evaluate their specific operations, and threats to those operations, so they can make informed and intelligent decisions on the right technology that best meet their needs.”
