Posted on January 23, 2023

The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) has announced a new shipping service to Jeddah Islamic Port.

The Indamex 2 (IN2) is jointly operated by Hapag-Lloyd and CMA CGM.

MAWANI has added up to 9 shipping services over the course of the past year.

This new trade link aims to position Jeddah as a major East to West hub and to strengthen the nation’s connectivity.

With the addition of IN2, Jeddah Islamic Port will gain access to key trade gateways across the Indian Subcontinent and North America – including Port Qasim in Pakistan, Mundra and Jawaharlal Nehru in India, and Norfolk, Charleston, and Savannah in the United States.

The first sailing on the IN2 service left Jeddah Islamic Port on 11 January on board MV. SWANSEA V. 006W, a 6966 TEU vessel.

Most recently, MSC included Jeddah Islamic Port to its new India-West Mediterranean route.

The India – West Med service will open a new trade corridor between the key markets of Indian Subcontinent and Western Mediterranean.
