Inland Rivers, Ports & Terminals Association Announces Leadership Transition, Embarking on a New Chapter of “Navigating What’s Next”

Milwaukee, WI: Inland Rivers, Ports & Terminals Association (IRPT) is proud to announce a transition in leadership as the organization continues its mission of advancing the nation’s inland river transportation system. Guided by the theme “Navigating What’s Next,” IRPT celebrates both the achievements of outgoing leadership and the vision of the new administration steering the association into the future.

Over the past two years, under the direction of Robert Maxwell of the Port of Rosedale, IRPT has strengthened its role as the leading voice for ports, terminals, and transportation partners across the inland river system. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, IRPT has built a strong foundation that continues to promote economic growth, infrastructure investment, and innovation across America’s waterways.

Now, as IRPT welcomes Lucy Fletcher of AGRIServices of Brunswick as its new President, the association looks ahead to a future of opportunity and transformation.

“Navigating What’s Next isn’t just a theme. It is a call to action,” said Fletcher. “Our industry is strengthening, and IRPT is one reason for that growth. Encouraging new technologies, fostering collaboration, IRPT is broadening its scope to include collaboration with European ports through a transatlantic partnership with European Federation of Inland Ports.”

The leadership transition was celebrated during IRPT’s 2025 Annual Conference held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where members, partners, and industry leaders gathered to understand changing legislation and policy, strategize on strengthening operation and maintenance of the river, and explore market and commodities forecasts for the near future.

“Robert’s dedication and vision has left a lasting mark on our association,” said Aimee Andres, Executive Director of IRPT. “As we turn the page, we are confident that Ms. Fletcher will build upon that legacy with energy, , and a deep commitment to our members.”

With a renewed focus on growth, modernization, and partnership, IRPT remains steadfast in its mission to serve as a resource for inland river ports, terminals, and transportation services, advocating for the value of the inland system to policymakers, users, and the public.

Together, the association and its members are navigating what’s next by charting a course for continued success and resilience across America’s inland waterways.
