Iran to unveil new mechanism to manage Strait of Hormuz traffic

Iran has prepared a mechanism to manage traffic through the Strait of Hormuz along a designated route that will be unveiled soon, the head of the Iranian parliament’s national security committee, Ebrahim Azizi, said on Saturday.

In a post on X/Twitter, Azizi stated that the mechanism was created in an effort to ensure “the guarantee of international trade security.”

He added that only commercial vessels and parties cooperating with Iran’s leadership will be allowed to benefit from the new process.

Azizi explained that the mechanism would provide “specialized services” for which fees would be charged to any vessels that transit the strait under the new plan.
