Huisman pursues port and logistics market

Posted on February 8, 2024

Huisman, a global player in the design, production, and maintenance of heavy construction equipment, has announced its entry into the port and logistics market.

The Dutch company has been awarded an order from Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam (ECT) for a series of Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) for efficient handling and buffering of containers.

Huisman divides the manufacturing process between two of its European facilities, with all welding and pre-assembly taking place in the Czech Republic and final assembly in Schiedam, the Netherlands.

Commissioning and testing will take place at the ECT Delta terminal at the Maasvlakte, in the Port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

David Roodenburg, CEO of Huisman, said: “We are very grateful to ECT for this contract which has led to our entry the port and logistics sector.

“Four million non-stop handling cycles over 30 years demand high-quality equipment. Huisman’s dedication to quality and reliability aligns seamlessly with the standards of ECT.

“With our proven track record in offshore cranes, we bring almost a century of knowledge to this industry. We are pleased to manufacture these cranes at our European facilities, and we have full confidence in our ability to ensure the successful delivery of this series.”

In June 2023, Hutchison Ports and King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) announced the signing of a concession agreement to manage and operate SPARK’s dry port and bonded logistics zone.
