Mobile City Councilwoman Gina Gregory gave an update on work at Langan Park in her District 7 Newsletter this past week.
Here is the post concerning the park:
I wanted to give you a quick update on the work happening here at Langan Park.
The dredging project is going really well. We’ve finished the Upper Lake, which is a big step forward, and we were able to preserve some of the historical islands along the way.
Now the crews are working in the Lower Lake, just below the dam. If you’ve been out here, you’ve probably seen the long-reach excavators, barges and boats working each day. We’re also moving a lot of sediment out of the park — anywhere from 70 to 90 dump trucks a day.
We’ll soon be moving further into the middle of the Lower Lake, and there’s more work coming on the northeast side of the park. We’ll be rehabilitating the drainage ditch there and giving it a more natural look, more like a stream instead of a concrete ditch.
We’re also adding new bridges in that area, which I think will really make a difference in how that side of the park looks and feels.
There’s a lot of work going on, but it’s all part of taking care of Langan Park and making sure this is a place our community can enjoy for many years to come.
