Following 16 months of construction, Hall is proud to have successfully completed the 1.81 km Ebeye seawall in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
The new seawall provides an important line of defence for the densely populated island, helping protect homes, roads and critical infrastructure from coastal erosion, inundation and the increasing impacts of climate change.
The project also included construction of a 1.81 km footpath along the back of the seawall, providing a new public amenity for the Ebeye community.
Delivering the project was a major logistical undertaking, with around 84,000 tonnes of armour rock and fill transported to the remote island, along with significant plant, equipment and construction materials.
It was also very much a team effort. At the project’s peak, around 35 Marshallese team members worked alongside Hall’s expatriate workforce, building local skills and contributing to the delivery of this important piece of infrastructure.
It was fantastic to come together with the Ebeye community and project stakeholders recently for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the seawall’s completion, attended by Her Excellency President Hilda Heine.
