Beachfill operations in Ocean City are complete. The contractor finished work on Monday night (Sept. 7, 2026), and the removal of pipeline is underway.
Demobilization of equipment will continue for approximately two weeks with the dune crossover at Morningside Road and a section of Beach Road closed for safety.
All beaches are open to beachgoers. An updated list of swimming areas guarded by the Ocean City Beach Patrol is available here: ocnj.us/ocbp_guarded_beaches.

When: Summer 2026
Where: Beaches between Ocean City’s terminal groin near Seaview Road and the area around 11th Street
Who: Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company was the contractor for the job.
What: Ocean City beaches received 1.6 million cubic yards of sand to rebuild eroded beaches. The city also purchased extra stockpiles of sand for use before the next renourishment cycle.
Why: The projects are designed to protect coastal property.
