DUP meet with minister on dredging

Posted on July 15, 2015

The recent enforcement notice issued to companies dredging from Lough Neagh was top of the agenda at a recent meeting involving representatives from Norman Emerson’s Stone, the DUP and Environment Minister Mark H Durkhan.

Stephen Moutray MLA said, “I felt the meeting was positive and progressive with the Minister taking on board the concerns from the businesses involved.

“I stressed the need for a common sense approach… and urged the Minister to work with officials to ensure that environmental concerns were addressed and the businesses considerations were taken on board. It is vital there is a concerted effort to work together to resolve this matter. I understand an application is due to be submitted and I will be continuing to work with the Department and the Minister on this matter.”
