ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Dredging work is set to begin soon at the Rochester Harbor, a routine project aimed at keeping the waterway deep enough for commercial traffic.
Officials said the harbor is dredged every two years to maintain even levels along the bottom of the waterway. This round of work is expected to remove about 250,000 cubic yards of sediment and other material.
The goal is to keep the harbor between 21 and 23 feet deep.
