Posted on December 4, 2023

December 1, 2023

A contractor retained by the County of Prince Edward will dredge the Wellington Channel beginning Monday, December 4.

Dredging will increase the depth of the channel and improve access for boat traffic.

  • Work will take place between Monday, December 4 and Friday, December 15.
  • Sections of the beach and the parking area will be inaccessible during the dredging.
  • The ability to navigate the channel will also be impacted. Residents are asked to avoid active construction areas for their safety.
  • The public must stay away from the pressurize pipes and berm and must remain outside of the fenced areas.
  • The dredge will move to allow passing vessels but may take a short period of time, which may result in boating delays. Boaters are advised to use caution around the dredging equipment.
  • Noise levels will be elevated in the area.
  • Access to parking spaces near the Wellington Rotary Beach boat launch will be restricted to allow for a staging/work area.
  • Access to the east portion of the beach will also be restricted as material from the dredging are to be deposited there.
  • Residents are encouraged to use the West Lake Boat Launch (16057 Loyalist Parkway).
