Dredging Of Rivers Affected By DuPont Pollution ‘Inevitable,’ Expert Says

In light of a July 2015 report on mercury contamination, dredging in the Ramapo-Pompton Rivers is “inevitable,” but just how much contaminated river sediment needs to be removed — and how much this will impact nearby residents — remains to be seen, according to a Rutgers professor.

“It’s certainly going to spark a clean up,” Rutgers University environmental scientist Michael Gochfeld said. “Dredging is inevitable… I don’t know how extensive the dredging (will be).”
