Dredging fleet commences operation in Ob-Irtysh Basin of Russia’s IWW

The scope of works is estimated at about million cbm

The Irtyshsky-727 and Irtyshsky-504 dredgers registered in Omsk district of inland water ways and shipping, branch of Ob-Irtyshvodput Administration (OIA), have commenced implementation of tasks scheduled for this navigation season, according to OIA.

Over several days of operation the two dredgers have excavated almost 24,600 cbm of material. More dredgers will join them in the near time, upon completion of repair works.

The scope of works to be executed by Ob-Irtyshvodput Administration is estimated at about 1 million cbm, similar to that of the previous navigation season.

According to earlier reports, dredging ships are normally put into operation later as compared with deployment of buoy tender, depending on the water level. The key task of the dredging fleet is to ensure safe navigation of ships on inland water ways.
