Notification of Works – Dredging at Axel Stenross Boat Ramp

The City of Port Lincoln will undertake routine maintenance dredging at the Axel Stenross Boat Ramp.

Dredging of the Boat ramp entrance and channel prevents sediment accumulation over time resulting in adequate channel depth.

OPERATIONS

The City of Port Lincoln’s contractor, Southern Ocean Dive and Marine, will be on site on Monday 2 December 2024 to undertake the dredging works. It is anticipated that the work will be completed by Friday 6 December 2024.  Completion of works will be dependent on the amount of work required, weather delays and operating restrictions.

Dredging works will be undertaken during the day using an 8-tonne excavator on a 17-metre barge with spuds and ramp positioned within the dredge area at the boat ramp.

There will be no access to the boat ramp throughout the dredging period. Regular users of the Axel Stenross Boat Ramp are encouraged to use the Billy Lights Boat Ramp as an alternative until dredging is completed.

ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING

Southern Ocean Dive and Marine will operate under the City of Port Lincoln’s dredging license issued by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).  The EPA require dredging operators to undertake works in accordance with the license and EPA’s Dredging Guideline 2020.
