The 2026 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series at the Vinoy North Yacht Basin was an incredible success, drawing international attention and showcasing the vibrant St. Pete waterfront on a global stage. Behind the scenes, the City of St. Petersburg relied on Gator to execute a critical accelerated dredging project that helped make the world-class event possible.
The project required the creation of a specialized 30-foot by 30-foot diver landing area dredged to a depth of -17 feet NAVD88, all within an aggressive schedule leading up to the June 5–6, 2026 competition. With limited time and complex logistical requirements, the assignment demanded rapid mobilization, specialized equipment, permitting coordination, and seamless communication among multiple stakeholders.
Gator quickly assembled the necessary resources and partnered with Bayside Dredging Company to begin work immediately. Throughout the project, the team maintained close coordination with City officials, regulatory agencies, marina representatives, and event stakeholders to ensure every milestone was met. Careful planning and execution allowed dredging operations to be successfully coordinated around Red Bull’s crane and platform installation activities, keeping the project on schedule despite the demanding timeline.
A key contributor to the project’s success was Gator’s ability to secure a local disposal site through established industry relationships and regional partnerships. This strategic solution allowed dredging operations to continue efficiently and without interruption, helping maintain the accelerated project schedule.
This unique fast-response project highlighted Gator’s reputation for adaptability, teamwork, and performance under pressure. Working alongside Bayside Dredging Company, Gator successfully delivered the project on schedule and to specification, ensuring the Vinoy North Yacht Basin was fully prepared for one of the world’s premier extreme sporting events.
The successful completion of the dredging operation played an important role in supporting an unforgettable Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series event that brought excitement, international recognition, and economic activity to downtown St. Petersburg.
