State officials have confirmed the Double Creek Channel, one of two ways southern Ocean County boaters access Barnegat Inlet and theAtlantic Ocean, will be dredged after a two-season closure.
The channel runs from the 42 buoy marker inBarnegat Bay to another channel that runs alongHigh Bar Harbor which ultimately leads to the inlet. It has been closed since the spring of 2014, when state officials decided its shallow depth and sharp, dog-leg turns made it too unsafe for boaters.
