As the Świnoujście-Szczecin Fairway officially opens, do you want to see how DEME accomplished one of the most important dredging projects in Poland’s history? Together with JV partner Van Oord we dredged 24 million m3 of material in the channel, which was deepened to -12.5 m, enabling the Port of Szczecin to handle the next generation of vessels. This mammoth project also included the construction of two artificial islands in the lagoon, which in line with DEME’s sustainable, circular-economy solutions, are created from dredged material.
Ten main dredging units were deployed including DEME’s newest trailing suction hopper dredgers ‘Scheldt River’ and ‘Meuse River’ and our cutter suction dredger ‘Amazone’.
