Dive into the construction of the world’s first energy island, 45 km off the Belgian coast.
Since July 2024, we have completed and installed 23 concrete caissons – each weighing around 22,000 tons – to form the protective outer ring of the world’s first artificial energy island. A major engineering achievement.
With the foundations now complete, we are currently reclaiming the island with sand.
The ultimate goal of the Princess Elisabeth Island? To contribute to Belgium’s energy independence by bringing renewable energy generated at sea to shore.
