Recently, DE Klop completed an intensive training and consultancy program for Mineros SA in Colombia, a major gold mining company with multiple dredges.
Over a two-week period, their specialists worked alongside operators on five different dredgers, focusing on optimizing dredging operations and improving overall production efficiency.
In addition to the operational training, the pump drive was upgraded by implementing optimum drive characteristics.
This modification helped prevent overload of the submerged dredge pump motor while improving operational reliability and equipment protection.
The training covered the entire dredging process, from excavation and slurry transport to identifying the factors that limit production. Topics included:
• Production and efficiency optimization
• The influence of different soil types on dredging performance
• Identifying wheel, swing and pump limitations
• Operation and optimal use of the dredging equipment
• Working methods and operational improvements
• Maintenance and reliability of the installations
Alongside the training, they carried out detailed inspections of all dredgers and documented our findings in a comprehensive survey report. The report included recommendations related to maintenance, reliability, operational performance, and potential improvements to the dredging installations.
DeKlop says it was rewarding to see how knowledge sharing and hands-on experience contribute to higher production rates, improved equipment availability, and the continued development of dredge operators.
