A few months ago, we delivered the first version of our Cygnus cutter suction dredger (Rotterdam 26) to Dekker Groep.
Since entering operation, the dredger has been performing extremely well, with production figures exceeding expectations. A great confirmation of the design choices made during the development of the concept.
We have now started the next phase: further expanding the capabilities of the first delivered Cygnus. The Rotterdam 26 will be modified to gradually increase the dredging depth from the current 18 meters, first to 30 meters and later this year even to 50 meters.
As part of this upgrade, the spud system will be replaced by a so-called Christmas Tree installation, allowing the dredger to operate fully on wires. This will create a flexible and efficient system for deeper extraction projects.
At the same time, we have also started the preparations for the construction of the second and third Cygnus cutter suction dredgers, which will again be built on stock. The first long lead-time components have already been ordered.
It is great to see the concept not only proving itself in practice, but also continuing to evolve further.
