David Simonelli, Great Lakes retired Chief Operating Officer was honored with the Distinguished Achievement Award from the University of Rhode Island (URI) College of Engineering. The Distinguished Achievement Awards honor alumni, corporations, and friends who personify URI’s tradition of excellence in professional achievement, leadership contributions, community service, and philanthropic endeavors, thereby bringing distinction to themselves and to the University of Rhode Island.
URI and GLDD have had a long history together with several generations of GLDD leaders being URI grads. We at GLDD know Simonelli has always been proud of his alma mater and is very proud of this honor. And of course, we are proud of Simonelli and his long successful 44-year career at GLDD where we still benefit from his innovation every day.
