Cravath and Trippe Dredging underway

Posted on February 10, 2022

Dredging operations on Cravath and Trippe Lakes began on February 2 in the city of Whitewater, Wisconsin, as part of the lakes drawdown project.

after several weeks Preparation With a controlled burn, laying of ice and vegetation skins and wood mats on top, Stout Construction was able to remove dredged material from both lakes last week.

“The dredging began last Wednesday and the crew are working from the middle of Lake Trippe and heading south at this point. They will continue to remove sediment along the planned channel, eventually heading north next week ,” said the city.

Dredging is also going on at Cravath. The dredge area is at the southern end of the lake and the crew will continue to work north toward the park until next week.

Dredged material will be removed through the Cravath Lake Front Park boat launch area.

In an effort to release invasive species, restore navigation channels and improve overall health within the lakes, the city of Whitewater began the process of draining Trip and Cravath lakes in July 2019.

Originally planned to last 24 months over three calendar years, the project was extended an additional year to ensure the maximum amount of lakeside exposure to freezing and/or dredging.
