The harbor development project initiated in Maaungoodhoo island of Shaviyani atoll, is well underway.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday.
As such, providing the latest updates of the Sh. Maaungoodhoo Harbor Development Project, the company revealed that the first shipment of concrete blocks required for the project have been delivered to the project site.
Currently ongoing are the harbor basin dredging operations.
MTCC noted that the ongoing harbor basin dredging component has reached 32 percent completion so far.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to carry out dredging operations in an area measuring 59,013 cubic meters as well as channel dredging operations in an area measuring 3,245 cubic meters.
The company was also contracted to construct a breakwater measuring 362 meters, a quay wall measuring 312 meters and a revetment measuring 105 meters.
MTCC will also be installing a harbor pavement measuring 1,509 square meters under the project.
The project also includes the construction of a ramp and concrete jetty as well as the installation of harbor lights.
The Sh. Maaungoodhoo Harbor Development Project is valued at MVR 56.33 million.
