Concordia Damen has signed a newbuilding contract with an undisclosed Paraguayan client for a 41-metre shallow draft river pusher, type CDS 4115, with delivery scheduled for 2027.
The vessel will operate on the Paraguay–Paraná River system, a key logistics corridor in South America. This marks the second CDS 4115 unit ordered for the region, underlining the design’s proven performance and operational reliability.
Built for challenging river conditions
The CDS 4115, designed and constructed by the Dutch yard, measures 41 x 15.5 metres. In a push configuration of 12 barges, the full convoy can reach up to 281 x 48 metres, enabling efficient large-scale cargo transport.
Powered by Caterpillar engines delivering 5,490 horsepower, the vessel is tailored for demanding inland operations.
A standout feature is its optimized shallow-draft design, allowing continued operations even when water depth drops to just 6 feet (around 1.8 metres). This capability is critical during dry seasons, when low water levels often disrupt navigation along the river system.
Strengthening inland logistics in South America
The newbuild will contribute to improving inland waterway transport efficiency across Paraguay and neighboring regions. The CDS 4115 design reflects Concordia Damen’s experience in addressing the unique challenges of South American river logistics, combining operational flexibility with reliable performance.
