Cochin Shipyard signs agreement to acquire 23% stake in Dutch firm Conoship

Posted on September 28, 2026

Cochin Shipyard Limited has officially signed a Share Purchase Agreement to acquire a 23 per cent equity stake in the Netherlands-based ship design and engineering company Conoship International Holding BV.

The strategic transaction is valued at a cash consideration of €2.30 million (approximately ₹25 crore), the company said in a stock exchange filing. The deal has received clearance from the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) and is expected to be finalised within two months.

Conoship has a diverse portfolio of ship designs, from general cargo vessels, tankers, and dredgers, to ferries and offshore vessels and provides its services to shipyards worldwide. The acquisition of 23 per cent equity shares of Conoship will help CSL to penetrate to European Coastal and Short sea shipping with advanced design solutions.

Besides, CSL and Conoship will jointly explore significant opportunities for upcoming technologies including alternate fuels in short-sea-vessels, coastal shipping inland waterways, and other related services in marine, shipping and offshore industries. The investment is expected to provide CSL access to international ship-design capabilities and help it participate more effectively in the growing market for energy-efficient and low-emission vessels.
