The first eminent domain actions to attain easements have been filed against beachfront property owners in northern Ocean County, Gov. Chris Christie‘s administration said.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requires the easements to construct a federally funded engineered beach and dune project that will protect those coastal communities hardest hit by superstorm Sandy from future severe storms and flooding, said state Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Martin and Acting Attorney General John. J. Hoffman in a prepared statement.
