Calvert BOCC considers joining coalition to clean Chesapeake Bay

The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners is considering joining a coalition of Maryland counties that are seeking to clean up the Chesapeake Bay in the most cost-effective ways possible.

But joining the Clean Chesapeake Coalition — which currently has seven member counties — comes at a $25,000 yearly cost. Terry Shannon, county administrator, said in an interview that at a later date, staff recommendations regarding whether to join the coalition will be presented to the commissioners, and if the commissioners want to join the group, it would require a budget adjustment to pay the yearly cost.
