Brazil receives 7.5 million dollars for the concession of three ports

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 13 (EFE) .- The Brazilian government received 38.8 million reais (about 7.5 million dollars) for the concession of the operation of docks in three ports on the north coast of Brazil to companies that They committed to make investments in them for 106 million reais (20.4 million dollars).

The three docks in the ports of Santana (municipality in the state of Amapá), Fortaleza (capital of the state of Ceará) and Salvador (capital of the state of Bahia) were offered in concession for the next 25 years in an auction held on the stock exchange of Sao Paulo by the Ministry of Infrastructure.

The most disputed concession was that of a dock for the movement of cargo in general in containers in the port of Salvador, which was awarded by the company Intermarítima Portos after offering 32 million reais (about 6.1 million dollars) for the rights. to operate the infrastructure.

The winner initially offered 10 million reais (about 1.9 million dollars) for the concession, but had to triple its proposal to overcome the offers presented by the companies Wilson Sons Terminais e Logistics and Martins Medeiros Logística.

The pier auctioned in the Port of Salvador, with an area of ​​16,700 square meters and an annual movement of 842,400 tons, will receive investments of 17.7 million reais (about 3.4 million dollars), according to the commitment made by the winner.

The rights to operate the dock for the trade of solid vegetable grains, mainly soybean cake, in the port of Santana was awarded by the company Caramuru Alimentos, the only one to bid, with an offer for the rights of 5.85 million reais ( about $ 1.12 million), which was the minimum amount required.

This terminal, in which the concessionaire promised to invest 41.3 million reais (about 7.9 million dollars), has a movement of 4.3 million tons per year.

The company Terminales de Granos de Fortaleza (Tergram) was the winner of the auction in which the concession on the dock for the trade of wheat in grains from the port of Fortaleza was offered, with an offer of one million reais (about 192,308 dollars). ).

The granted dock has a movement of 14.8 million tons per year and the winner of the concession agreed to make investments in it for 47.6 million reais (about 9.1 million dollars).
