Boskalis: That makes six in Taiwan

Posted on May 5, 2025

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝘄𝗮𝗻

With our semi-submersible heavy transport vessels Mighty Servant 3, Transshelf, Blue Marlin and Black Marlin, Boskalis started transporting 66 suction bucket jacket foundations and an offshore substation for the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms in Taiwan. Recently, a fifth and a sixth Boskalis vessel joined in: our BOKA Atlantic and our BOKA Pride.

Our 115-meter long DP3 construction support vessel (CSV) 𝗕𝗢𝗞𝗔 𝗔𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 is present in the future offshore wind farm to prepare the seabed where necessary. Using two different tools – a grab dredger and a mass flow excavation tool – the previously installed scour protection will be cleaned and cleared of washed-up sediment if necessary. This must be done before the jacket foundations are installed on the seabed.

Our 130-meter long DP3 CSV 𝗕𝗢𝗞𝗔 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 is operating in Taiwan as a service operation vessel, providing walk-to-work and accommodation services. The vessel is primarily engaged between the offshore substations at Greater Changhua, supporting commissioning activities.

With this fleet of versatile heavy transport and construction support vessels, Boskalis is proud to facilitate the development of the 920 MW offshore wind farms in the Taiwan Strait. We wish the vessel crews and project team the best of luck with the execution of this multifaceted project.
