Arcadis today announced an agreement to acquire SATEL, a Spain-based power design and engineering specialist with 250 employees. The acquisition strengthens Arcadis’ position in Europe’s fast-growing grid modernization, renewable energy and hyperscale data center markets.
Headquartered in Zaragoza, Spain, SATEL has more than 35 years of experience in transmission and distribution networks, substations, high-voltage infrastructure, renewables, permitting and data center-related power infrastructure, serving leading energy and digital infrastructure clients.
The acquisition supports Arcadis’ strategy to grow in high-value capabilities and priority markets, helping clients advance electrification, energy transition and digital infrastructure expansion.
Delivering Greater Value for Clients
SATEL strengthens Arcadis’ full lifecycle power infrastructure offering by combining Arcadis’ advisory, environmental and permitting capabilities with SATEL’s specialist power engineering and design expertise. SATEL’s recent work includes supporting data center developments in Aragón with the permitting, environmental and engineering expertise needed to deliver their high-voltage power infrastructure, as well as contributing to the design and development of transmission and distribution networks across Spain through its participation in projects involving more than 20,000 km of high-voltage transmission lines and over 1,000 substations.
Together, Arcadis and SATEL support clients from planning and permitting through grid connection, engineering design and delivery across power networks, renewables and data centers. The combination creates a stronger platform for utility, renewable energy, industrial and digital infrastructure clients across Europe.
Strengthening Arcadis’ European Energy, Power and Data Center Position
Spain offers strong growth in power infrastructure, supported by electrification, renewables and digital infrastructure demand, with more than €20 billion of planned grid investment through 2030. SATEL has supported over 6,500 MW of installed data center capacity across Iberia, complementing Arcadis’ European power and data center expertise. Following the acquisition of KUA Group in Germany last year, this transaction further strengthens Arcadis’ Power and Datacenter capabilities in Europe.
Heather Polinsky, CEO, Arcadis, said: “SATEL strengthens Arcadis’ power infrastructure capabilities in one of Europe’s fastest-growing markets. This broadens our ability to support clients as investment accelerates in grids, renewables, data centers, and resilient infrastructure. Together, we’re helping deliver the critical infrastructure that will underpin Europe’s energy transition and enable its digital future.”
Pablo Bernad, CEO, SATEL, said: “Clients are taking on increasingly complex infrastructure programs, with expertise often extending beyond Spain. Joining Arcadis creates new opportunities for SATEL’s people and clients, broadening our range of expertise and global delivery capability. This is a natural next step for our business, which is founded on the reputation we have built over decades and enables us, together, to play a greater role in key energy infrastructure projects shaping the future.”
